Back to Beijing

This article is like a piece of diary and should not be considered in any way serious.
In particular, points and facts are usually mixed up and presented in a stream of thoughts.

Yesterday I came to Beijing. The first person to speak to me was a stranger on a street near Yuanming Yuan Park ( 圓明園園, literally ). I was dragging my suitcase towards the west gate of THU when sudden I heard a feminine voice saying “不好意思” ( “Excuse me” ). Being confused, I turned my head left and saw a woman around her 30s. “可以請你幫我買點吃的嗎?” ( “Can you buy me something to eat, please?” ), she said. “Urgh,” I continued walking and left the woman behind, thinking what had happened. Was she sane, or up to something evil? Or was she simply hungry and forgot to bring her wallet (which I doubted)? Nobody knows. Anyways I am safe and back in Beijing again.

The part of summer that has gone

It is going to be a short summer for me. I visited many cities (and provinces) during the summer: Jilin, Beijing, Macau, Shanghai and JinJiang. The stay in Shanghai was most remarkable because I went to my first laboratory in SJTU and helped develop some cryptographic library ( which is still undergoing development ). I really enjoyed joining little seminars at the lab of LATTICE and learning new concepts in cryptography. The students and professor there were really helpful and enthusiastic about their work. It really was a great opportunity as I got to learn both applications and theories of cryptograhy. I think the environment was not so pushing and stressful and competitive as that in THU, which can be a good thing.

Speaking of THU, it is definitely a great place for study and life. In this summer, I joined a team heading to Jilin, to visit sights and Chinese enterprises there. The team consisted entirely of HMT (Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan) students and the event comprised the mandatory course credits we as HMT should acquire. I did not expect it to be fun and it turned out to be fine. We met many THU alumni and with their guidance we got to know more about Jilin and Mainland China.

I also went to my super-hometown (see Last post for a definition) to visit my grandma. She is now in her 80s and suffered from back pain. It is hard to imagine whom I shall become and what I will do to pass time when I am in my 80s. I just wish she could be healthier and happier. People living in the countryside are very different from those in cities, espcially those from a large one as Macau. I thought they should think in a less complicated way, but that was only half correct. I am often shocked by the mixed simplistic and complicated, secular thinking they exhibited. Maybe in no way should we be different, we as humans are always jealous and looking for a better place.

The part of summer that is coming

The course for this summer semester has a weird name : Computational Modeling for Urban System Regulation. I wish I could finish my course project quickly and in rewardful way. Hope it would be fun.

There are little time for preparing the research internship in the upcoming spring semester. I think I shall be doing cryptography and theory because they are interesting and meanwhile useful. I really wish to explore more novel concepts and proofs in the fields.

生活
是在炙熱的砂海
追隨
名為夢想的綠洲
片刻
品嘗寧靜的甘露

用廢紙填滿內心的空洞
卻 不期
暴雨 沖刷乾淨
