Comment systems, feeds and terms

Misc 2018-08-24

I have been at my super-hometown (which is by definition, my parents’ hometown) these days. Yesterday when I was at my place doing nothing, I decided to write post, but I eventually ended up adding features to the site.

Comment Systems

Having comment systems is preferable as it enables interaction with readers (despite the fact that I had very few readers, if any). Maybe we will need to discuss a math problem under a post? So I surveyed a few such ready-to-deploy third-party systems and came up with two options.

So I tried the Facebook one, but I gave up after registering an app on Facebook, because it required me to provide links to a privacy policy and terms of service, which I did not prepare. I tried many claimed free generators but they required additional charges if I need, e.g., to declare that the contents in the site are my own property. The final charge turned out to be 24 USD so I gave up on them. These sites are hilarious in their teuer (I put a sudden German as I am learning it) charges because all they did was to put up some questionares online.

Then I tried the Disqus one, and found that it was inaccessible because of some mystic reasons (hover to know more). Anyways at the end I managed to deploy Disqus by following instructions found online.

Feeds

Adding feeds is extremely easy via jekyll-feed. Now you can subsribe to the blog using Atom Feed. One simple way to do so is to use Chrome plugins, e.g. RSS Feed Reader should work.

Terms and Conditions

After making such features, I wrote one such legal notice (from a template) to prevent potential troubles. Please kindly read the document carefully before using the site.
